SINCE graduating from London College of Fashion, Matthew Nelson who once fronted Colne's Milltown Brothers has found a new career in film making. Now working in the capital with The Mob Film Company, Matthew believes that a blend of skills from his new career could ignite his new group Milo's bid for the charts.

Speaking before last week's showcase gig at the Highbury Garage, Matthew revealed that he plans to project a collection of images that complement the lyrics throughout the group's live shows. He said: " Images and music can work hand in hand, the idea will be to bring a fresh dimension to the show and add extra depth to the songs.

"One track, Swimmers, is already scheduled for use in Vadim Jean's new film 'One More Kiss' and I have set another, Eraser, to a video.

With Matthew and the band rejecting the safe option of mixing old Milltown Brother's favourites like Which Way Should I Jump and Apple Green with the new material, their first objective is to establish a solid set and build a new fan base.

Matthew said: "We needed a clean break from the Milltown's. I wrote those songs ten years ago and tracks that meant something to me then, no longer mean the same things.

"I'm writing more about my own experiences of life now and when the band become established we'll introduce the images to the shows."

Although no date is confirmed, Milo hope to play within the East Lancashire area before Christmas.CL
