WILPSHIRE completed a brilliant treble by capturing the Lancashire Evening Telegraph sponsored ELGA Mixed Foursomes Trophy in the driving rain over their home course yesterday.
The Whalley Road club have already won the Inter Town League title and the newly formed John Wallwork Seniors League crown during a memorable summer.
And they made it a magnificent hat-trick yesterday thanks to an inspired round from Lady Captain Betty Monk and her husband Ken.
It's been something of a miserable season for Mrs Monk as she and the rest of the Wilpshire ladies have had to watch in envy as their male conterparts have dominated the silverware.
But she got her own back yesterday when she and Ken pulled off a brilliant double, helping their team win the team nett by carding the best individual nett score of 71.
"Betty's teams haven't done anything this year so to win this is the highlight of the year for her," said Ken.
"I bought her some new woods recently and I think it's the best thing I've done for her. She played really well.
"But I think we were really fortunate to be on our home course.
"It's a big advantage in weather like this."
Three pairs of mixed foursomes from each of ELGA's 22 clubs battled bravely in atrocious conditions.
But it was Wilpshire who came out on top with an overall nett of 222.5.
Blackburn won the Tom Nuttall Trophy for the best team gross with a total of 275.
And Blackburn pair Hilary Simmons and her son, Richard, won the individual nett prize with a round of 86.
