PEACOCKS are not commonly seen in Blackburn, but a couple of weeks ago a beautiful specimen was regularly sighted in gardens in the Revidge area.
Most residents were curious about the bird's origins and concerned about its welfare. A busy road is not an appropriate habitat for a peacock!
I rang a vet who said to leave it as it would eventually fly home. The police didn't want to know.
The saintly RSPCA, of such emotive television exposure, was impossible to contact, even on the emergency number which I tried many times! How do the inspectors know where to go?
What about the peacock? It was violently killed by some speeding driver the other morning and its lovely feathers were strewn along Revidge Road. What a waste!
