LANDSCAPING and bathroom refurbishment work at Pendleside Hospice can go-ahead immediately, thanks to a £10,000 donation.
Padiham-based boiler-maker Potterton, donated the money, which will also be used to kick-start a fund to replace the Reedley hospice's mini-ambulance.
Hospice chairman Muriel Jobling, said: "To receive such an amount will give an enormous boost to everyone at the hospice and will enable us to carry out landscaping and other works without delay.
"We're very grateful to the company and to the people of Padiham for their on-going support."
Janet Frost, Potterton's senior human resources officer, said: "Several members of staff had relatives who had benefited from the excellent support Pendleside offers.
"We at Potterton were delighted when out nomination was approved by the Industries Charities Committee at parent company Blue Circle and we were able to show our appreciation for Pendleside's valuable work within our community."
The cheque was presented by Brian Farrow, managing director of Potterton Heat Generators, who said: "We've been established in Padiham for a long time and we're pleased to reinforce out strong links with the local community.
"It's satisfying that this money is going to improve a service that has already done so much for so many people."
