DARWEN: A rottweiler was hit by a train, causing hold-ups for more than an hour as Railtrack staff tried to deal with the wounded animal.
The dog was injured at about 8.30am yesterday on the Bolton-Blackburn line near Darwen.
A First North Western Trains spokesman said staff could not get near the angry animal and waited for a vet, who decided to put down the dog at 10am.
