PLANS to build a 33 metre high chimney to help reduce emissions from a Darwen factory look likely to be approved despite protests from residents.
The Imperial Home Decor Group, based at Belgrave Mills in Belgrave Road, Darwen, want to build the oxidiser stack to stay in line with government limits on odour and fume emissions.
But residents in nearby Beckett Street say they stack will tower above their homes.
One householder wrote to the council saying: "I am very aware of the need for Imperial Home Decor to reduce their emissions.
"However I would like to see other approaches followed that would have less visual intrusion."
Blackburn with Darwen Council's planning committee will discuss the plan on Thursday.
