PLAYERS from Bacup Borough Football Club observed a minute's silence before their match against Daisy Hill last night in memory of 22-year-old midfielder Jason Ross.
Jason, the son of former Arsenal and Everton star Trevor Ross, was killed in an accident in Collyhurst, Manchester, on Sunday night.
Police said Jason was leaning out of the passenger window of a Ford Fiesta when his head struck the rear window of a parked car and he died in an ambulance on the way to North Manchester General Hospital.
Fiesta driver Christian Elliot, 22, has been charged with drink driving.
He will appear before Manchester City Magistrates on September 28.
Bacup Borough manager Brent Peters said his players had been devastated by the tragedy but insisted the game went ahead.
He said: "It was a very emotional, eerie place at West View last night. It was very sad. I didn't know how the lads would respond but we won 3-0 - that was for Jason."
Jason lived in Turf Hill Road, Rochdale, with his grandmother.
