A 12-YEAR-OLD boy was taken to the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, Pendlebury, for treatment after sustaining serious head injuries in a road accident yesterday.
Daniel Michael Wood, of Tippet Close, Blackburn, was in collision with a Nissan Micra at the junction of Haslingden Old Road and Old Bank Lane in the town at 8.10am.
He was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary but later transfered to the hospital for specialist care.
A police spokesman said it was thought Daniel had stepped into the road from behind a parked car and into the path of the vehicle being driven by Kieran Riding, 28, of Turn Village, Bury.
