RIBBLE Valley MP Nigel Evans has slammed the EU for attempting to take away cash help for school milk deliveries in the UK.
The European parliament's powerful budgets committee has been discussing plans to abolish the subsidies.
But Conservative MEP's have been opposing the plans and Nigel Evans has joined the campaign to save school milk.
He said: "We have a long-standing tradition in this country that our school kids are given fresh milk for their morning and lunch-time breaks.
"The National Dairy Council estimate that two out of every five nursery and primary school children in the UK stand to lose out if the EU subsidies are axed by Brussels.
"This is a part of a back door plan to wean out kids on to long life milk, which comes from other countries."
