THE remarks of Councillor Don Rishton in "Balanced analysis" (Letters, September 13) are just another load of claptrap.
The issue is quite simple - did the councillors involved in Coun Mohammed Khan's selection for the vacancy of racial harassment officer act correctly?
If they did, why resign? - for politicians are known to be the most hard-faced bunch around, not prone to hurting themselves unless it's a damage-limitation exercise.
In the same issue, you report Blackburn with Darwen Council Labour leader, Coun Malcolm Doherty saying that if the Liberal Democrats want to make this a public issue, then they can. But if they think about it carefully they would not want the issue of councillors' behaviour to be in the public arena!
Why not?
The utter conceit of the Labour leader beggars belief
For that is just what the public wants to know - what goes on in the local palace of intrigue.
Politicians should be in a glass bowl for all to witness just what they are about, then the electorate may just come out of their shells and vote once again.
