BRIAN Kidd has signed a genuine all-rounder in Per Frandsen and, if the statistics are to be believed, the Danish international is one of the First Division's outstanding talents.
Although Frandsen's attacking exploits have taken the eye for Bolton Wanderers this season, Opta Index - the official Nationwide League analysts - have come up with a player profile which shows there are many other qualities to the midfielder's game.
Named in the First Division 'team of the week', judged on games played last weekend, Frandsen is also the current top-rated attacking midfielder in the Opta rankings.
He has an average score of 1299 points for the last six matches - a rating bettered only by Charlton's Mark Kinsella (1324), who leads the general midfield category.
Funnily enough, Kinsella was a player Rovers chased last season but were turned down by their relegation rivals Charlton.
Frandsen, meanwhile, looks set for his Rovers debut against Walsall tomorrow and his arrival could be just the finishing touch needed for Kidd's squad.
Goals from midfield are always valuable and, in seven matches so far, he has had a total of 23 goal attempts (plus four more blocked shots), including two goals.
The Dane boasts a pass-completion rate of 74 per cent and, while his cross completion stands at only 22 per cent, his dribbling is outstanding. From 20 dribbles and runs, Rovers' new boy has a 90 per cent success rate.
But he can also do his bit for the team defensively, having made 39 tackles so far with a 41 per cent success.
It's also good to see that Frandsen does not commit many fouls, only three so far, and he has collected just one yellow card.
Perhaps the best indication of what kind of a player Kidd is getting for the club's money comes with the 'Opta Stat Attack' - a regular look at the leading players in various categories.
Frandsen figures in the top three of three different sections, including first place as far as tackling is concerned.
He has put in more tackles (39) than any other First Division player. Barnsley's David Tuttle (36) and West Brom's Sean Flynn (35) are second and third.
Only two players in this division have managed to put in more shots than Frandsen's 23, Huddersfield's Clyde Wijnhard and Forest's Doug Freedman, and, similarly, the Dane's 333 passes represent the third highest individual total.
Statistically speaking Frandsen is already a star.
