ONCE again, St Helens has shown just how generous it can be in helping to ease suffering throughout the world by raising a massive £12,372 with this year's Christian Aid Week Appeal.

Thirty three local charities took part in this annual event which is set to raise over £10 million nationwide. The campaign not only successfully raised money to ease suffering in 60 countries worldwide but also helped to increase awareness of the 200 million struggling to survive because of the burden of Third World debt.

St Helens Christian Aid Committee would like to thank all those who so generously donated to the appeal and to the church organisers and collectors for their time and effort in making the collection such a huge success.

Alan Jaras,
