SURPLUS European farming funds have gone to help disaster torn Kosovo and Turkey.
Euro MP Terry Wynn has used his weight as chairman of the European Parliament's budgets committee to get £137 million in aid.
Mr Wynn said: "We've struck a deal where surplus money for agriculture has been taken to pay for the aid, I can't recall this happening before."
His action in securing the deal was praised by senior colleagues.
Glenys Kinnock said: "It was with enormous relief that Terry Wynn has put a stop to the Commission raiding budget lines for the poorest countries to pay for relief in Kosovo.
"He has shown courage and integrity."
