DON'T miss you chance to win top prizes in the Divine Light Appeal grand draw, as the campaign moves towards its £65,000 target.

The Citizen-backed campaign, which aims to raise enough money to floodlight St John's Church in Preston by the Millennium New Year, has already received support from local radio djs at Red Rose Magic 999.

Now volunteers are selling tickets for a grand raffle - to which local businesses have donated top prizes.

Preston nightclub Tokyo Jo's has also pledged its support to the appeal.

Bosses at the club, which is next door to St John's in Church Street, say they are looking into ways in which they can help raise funds for the Divine Light Appeal.

The appeal has already attracted more than £50,000 towards the £65,000, but has just two weeks to hit the target.

Roger Argall, appeal fund-raiser, said: "We're so close to our target now, so any donation will make a huge difference.

"People have been very generous so far, and I'd like to urge those who haven't yet contributed to the campaign to put their hands in their pockets and give as much as they can afford."

The Parish Prospect Preston, which is the group behind the campaign, has already refurbished St John's sister parish church St George's.

The dramatic floodlighting scheme planned for St John's will not only highlight the beautiful historic building, it will light up Church Street and make the area more welcoming.

If you would like to send in donations direct, post them to PPP, St John's Church, Church Street, Preston.
