FLABBERGASTED! That was the reaction at Saints when prolific Welsh international winger Anthony Sullivan was omitted from the Great Britain train-on squad for next month's Tri-Nations tournament in Australia.
But 'Sully' said: "I did not expect to be selected after being left out last season, but it is still disappointing because I believe I have done well so far this season."
Anthony's 26 tries put him behind only Warrington's Toa Kohe-Love in the charts, which Sullivan topped in1998.
Son of late Great Test legend Clive, Anthony has scored 188 tries in 245 appearances since joining Saints from Hull KR in 1991 - a record comparable with Knowsley Road 'greats' of the past such as Alf Ellaby and Tom Van Vollenhoven.
In naming his 29-man squad Great Britain coach Andy Goodway gave a clue as to the omission of Sullivan in saying that he was looking for players who could play in several positions rather than specialists.
For the record Saints captain Chris Joynt, Keiron Cunningham, Sean Long, Paul Sculthorpe and Paul Newlove are in the line-up, although 'Newy' may not make the trip due to possible surgery on a thumb.
