LEIGH MR just cannot lay their Saddleworth bogey.
For the the third straight year they returned from the fixture try-less - a fact made even worse by the dismal 28-2 scoreline.
For 30 minutes Miners looked the better side. Mark Meadows led the pack, Chris Lee pulled the strings in the backs, Ian Hudspith twisted his way through the dangers, Mick Farrimond looked menacing with his ranging runs.
But it added up to little more than a 2-0 lead, courtesy of the boot of Mick Evans.
The closing five minutes of the half saw Saddleworth barge in with two TDs. They never looked back.
Minutes into the second half and Miners were in a mess.
It was a case of damage limitation and packmen Andy Collier and Lee Stretch worked tirelessly while subs Lee Lomax and Mike Morris did their best.
