WE in Golborne are desperately in need of a traffic management system. The village is getting totally gridlocked. No traffic warden and no control.
I was at a residents' meeting this year only to hear from our local councillors that their traffic control at the Queen Anne end of Golborne was to reduce the width of the road at the A580 island (the most ridiculous and dangerous thing they could do).
They have plans for extending a small square in the centre of Golborne (Hilton Gardens). Local police, with very limited resources, find this to be the breeding ground for most of the vandalism.
For a fraction of the cost (of something we don't want or need) they could install speed bumps and traffic routing, that we really need.
To allow heavy vehicles free access to the village centre at any time of the day is not only irresponsible, but down right dangerous. It is about time that our local elected councillors do what they were voted in to do - look after residents, "the people they represent".
Cosmetic improvements, however poorly conceived, are not the main priorities. The health and safety of Golborne people are.
