TOP Blackpool DJ Pete Schofield is packing up his record collection and moving to new pastures next month.

After more than eight years spinning tunes behind the decks at Brannigans, Blackpool's best known disc jockey will be joining the management team at the Waterfront nightclub in October and he's more than ready for the challenge.

He told the Citizen: "I feel a bit like Des Lynam. I've enjoyed a residency at Brannigans for nearly nine years and played a part in their success and now I feel it's time for a change."

Proud of his 32 years in the leisure industry and of helping Brannigans, Market Street, become the flagship of the First Leisure chain, Peter has fond memories of how his time began in the night spot.

"I had my own club in Blackpool called Schofield's and Brannigans then general manager Craig Morgan paid a visit and asked me to join the team," he said.

"So I brought the crowd with me and never looked back, but it's never been quite the same since those golden days."

But there are definitely no hard feelings over his departure as Peter added: "General manager Jim McIntyre and I have worked really well as a team and we have a great understanding of each other.

"I wish him and all the team all the best for the future, I want to say thanks for the good times and must just say the one person I will miss the most is deputy manager Lisa Hill who is a super lady."

And his new boss at the Waterfront, general manager Dominic Herdman, will be more than happy to see Peter at his post on October 5: "We are over the moon Peter is on board as this is something we have wanted for a long time."
