Morecambe 0 Kidderminster 1 DISAPPOINTED manager Jim Harvey was travelling to Bamber Bridge to watch a match on Wednesday night when we called him.

He was looking at players in his under 18s side as they took on the Preston club ahead of this Saturday's game away at Kettering.

And, after last week's disappointing display, some fans will be hoping he is thinking of throwing one or two youngsters into the first team.

Harvey may face a hostile reception from the natives at Kettering. Last season he was quoted in the Daily Telegraph criticising the gamesmanship of the players. He made his comments after a 6-0 defeat during which Kenny Mayers was sent off. Eventually the national newspaper was embroiled in a court case because of the comments.

Some good news last week was the return of Justin Jackson after being out injured after being beaten up outside a Lancaster pub. It was touch and go whether he would play and it was hard to judge his performance because he didn't get many chances.

In fact there weren't many chances at all during this match at all as Kidderminster effectively snuffed out Morecambe's attacking play but failed to create much themselves.

In the end it took a fine individual goal from Dean Bennett six minutes from time. He ran 30 yards without a Morecambe defender making a decent challenge before powering it in the bottom corner of Andy Banks' net. It was a real sickener as the goal came just when Morecambe were finally putting Kidderminster under some sustained pressure. After they conceded the goal the Shrimps gave it all they had but didn't really produce a clear cut chance.

Team: Banks, Fensome, Takano, McKearney, Farrell, Burns (Knowles 67), Thompson (Hardiker 67), Jackson (Hardy 67), Eastwood, Gardner.
