MP Hilton Dawson is sending a petition signed by 250 local farmers to PM Tony Blair - and says although he's pleased about the announcement of £500 million in extra subsidies, more still needs to be done.

Mr Dawson said: "This money will cover for new veterinary and inspection charges established in the wake of BSE, and it will assist hill farmers and those who have been hard hit by the strength of the pound. "However, it won't deal with the fundamental problem that farmers are not receiving a fair price for the high quality food that they produce."
