CAKES and crafts are main features at 25th anniversary celebrations next week at Kingsleigh Methodist Church.
After the amalgamation of Leigh Road and King Street Methodist Churches the new Kingsleigh Methodist Church opened in King Street, Leigh back in June 1974.
As part of continuing silver anniversary events a cake decorating demonstration is being staged between 2pm and 3.30pm on Friday, October 1, in the youth centre opposite Leigh Bus Station.
Waterfields Bakery expert Wendy Wordsworth, one of three national finalists in the British Baking Industry Awards cake decorating class, will show how it should be done.
And a cake competition for the best decorated, best cake baked in a loaf tin and the best sponge cake will be held on that day. Entry forms and tickets for the event (40p including refreshments) are available from Kingsleigh Church.
On Saturday, October 2 a craft fair is being held between 10am and 4.30pm, with soup and sandwiches made to order between 11.45 -1.
Further celebration events are planned for November and December.
