ANYONE who fancies penning a poem or writing a soap opera script may soon have the chance, thanks to a new project in the Wyre.
The New Pages project launched next week will provide free help to budding authors as well as discussion sessions for those who just fancy talking about books with other enthusiasts. The programme starts with a drop-in session at the Fleetwood Regeneration Centre on September 30, starting at 2pm and hosted by poet Gary Boswell.
Gary has had several volumes of poetry published and will be offering advice to aspiring writers.
He said: "I'd love to meet anyone who is interested in writing for a chat about how they can develop their talent.
"It doesn't matter about your age or interests, or if you have never written before. We just want to encourage people to take up writing."
New Pages is organised by LitFest who run the highly popular Lancaster literature festival. Project manager Sue Parish said: "It is about enjoying writing and enjoying reading.
"You might never have written before before, or you may have a half finished novel in the attic. Whatever your level of experience these events will offer you the chance to develop your skills."
"It is going to be fun, friendly and flexible with a fabulous team of writers and readers to provide expert help and advice." Further events are being planned to be held in libraries and community centres across the Wyre through until the end of 2000.
People or groups who want to get involved,or know more about the events, should ring Sue Parish on (01524) 62166.
