GIRL power won the day when the Peel Lions held a charity truck-pull challenge on Saturday (Sept 18)
The lads were left more than a little red-faced when the local lasses from Ramsbottom's Grey Mare pub - the only female team - managed to pull the seven-and-a-half-tonne truck 100 yards in 11 seconds, the fastest time.
Eight teams took part in the challenge and raised £1,100, more than half of which was raised by the girls.
Peter Hepburn, a member of the Peel Lions, laughed: "The girls really showed us! But everyone had a fun time, and we raised a pleasing amount of money which will go towards helping worthy local causes."
