IT'S OFFICIAL. Paul Cook is the pass-master of the Second Division.
Statistics from Opta show that before today's games Cook had made more passes than any other player in Division Two.
The Clarets schemer had made 296 passes, 30 more than Luton's Matthew Spring and 35 more than Brian Tinnion, who lined up against Cook for Bristol City this afternoon.
The top three was the same for the most successful passes, with 215 of Cook's efforts reaching a team-mate.
Burnley also feature heavily in other categories with Mitchell Thomas making the third highest number of tackles (27), committing the third highest number of fouls (17) and also being the player against whom the third highest number of fouls have been committed (22).
The Clarets have made the most tackles to date (188), the third highest number of passes (2,099) and committed the third highest number of fouls (92).
Elsewhere, Andy Payton has delivered the third highest number of shots off target to prove the theory that if you don't buy a ticket you don't win a prize.
And while the statistics make interesting reading and presumably give an accurate reflection of a player's performance, they then let themselves down by naming Colchester's Sagi Burton in the Second Division team of the week for his efforts in Burnley's 3-0 win a week ago !
WILLIAM Hill's are quoting Andy Payton at 6/1 to be the top scorer in Division Two this season. And they make Burnley 15/2 to win the league.
BURNLEY'S off-field progress is reflected in their autumn business newsletter.
The impressive, glossy publication contails details of the corporate facilities available at Turf Moor, sponsorship opportunities and forthcoming events.
NOT surprisingly Burnley are the form team of the Second Division, along with Notts County.
Based on the last six matches, Burnley and County have identical records of played six, won four, drawn one, lost one.
Wigan, Brentford and Bristol Rovers have each taken 12 points over the same period, while bottom of the pile come Cambridge, Oldham, Blackpool and Colchester with just three points apiece.
THE CLARETS reserves return to Pontins League Premier Division action on Wednesday night when Port Vale visit Turf Moor (kick-off 7.15).
BURNLEY'S youth team have made rapid progress up to fourth spot in the Youth Alliance's North-West Conference thanks to back-to-back wins.
THE CLARETS have come up with a double offer for young fans using the 'kid-a-quid' scheme for the televised home game against Scunthorpe United on Sunday, October 10.
Tickets priced £1 for the James Hargreaves Stand lower tier are on sale until 5pm on Saturday, October 9 and will not be available on the day of the game.
And supporters who present their ticket at the Clarets community office before October 23 will then receive £2 off a Junior Claret and Blue membership.
Becoming a member for just £10.50 will gives young fans free tickets, discounts, gifts and letters from the players.
