BURNLEY manager Stan Ternent is delighted his team are no longer the soft touches of this time last year as they dug in to secure another valuable away point in their promotion quest.
The Clarets kept a fifth clean sheet in their last seven games to draw 0-0 at Bristol City and slipped just one place to second in the table, a point behind leaders Bristol Rovers.
"I'm delighted with the resilience and the spirit the lads are showing and we are a very difficult side to beat these days.
"That's how it has to be and that's the reason why we're at the top of the league," said Ternent.
"It was a very well-earned point. There weren't a lot of chances at either end. They put lot of balls into the box but there weren't any clear-cut chances.
"If a side plays well against you then you have to defend and that's what you do."
City are likely to be top-six challengers by the end of the season and so Ternent was happy to leave Ashton Gate with honours even.
"It was an excellent point. It's a team effort. The back players and everybody played particularly well," he added.
"I thought we should go out and win the game but you've got to give credit to Bristol as well.
"They came at us and threw a lot of balls in the box and perhaps in the last 10 minutes we settled for what we had, although one fell to Steve Davis and he didn't quite catch it right or we could have got all three points.
"But all-in-all it was a good show and I'm happy with it."
