REGARDING your article (LET, September 13) in which Chris Thayne, chairman of Blackburn and Darwen Liberal Democrats called upon the Labour leader to pressurise the two Labour members at the heart of the Racial Equality Council scandal to resign as councillors, I found Councillor Malcolm Doherty's comments incredible.
The council leader's remark about not wanting councillors' behaviour aired in the 'public arena' just goes to show how pious and smug the ruling group of Labour councillors have become.
We can all see the Labour junta, peering down at us in the 'public arena' from their ivory towers and laughing. God forbid we gain status of a city - will their egos finally match their pay packets or vice versa?
You are elected by the public and are accountable to the public of Blackburn with Darwen, Coun Doherty, so business you conduct behind closed doors must be open for public assessment.
Or maybe you should descend from the clouds to the public arena - and be fed to the lions.
