A DOUBLE header of success at two British Youth Band Association Contests ha put the thunder back into the playing of a Burnley band.
Northern Thunder Drum and Bugle Corps of Scouts and Guides was the contest class winner at the North of England, in Brighouse.
The band also won trophies for general musical effect, drill, percussion and turnout, with the Corps Director Trophy.
The following day, they were runner-up in the contest class, but won the drill and percussion at a competition in Batley.
The Corps is looking forward to promotion to Championship Class in 2000 and will soon be recruiting for both senior and a new cadet corps for youngsters aged 8 to 11. For details contact Tom Bradshaw on 01282-430260.
