FORMER Rovers striker Jimmy Quinn is still backing his old club for promotion this season - despite masterminding Swindon's shock win last night.

And the former Northern Ireland international believes his own side could be on the up following their 2-1 victory.

"If we can go out and do that against a side like Blackburn then I'm sure a few teams are going to start worrying about coming to the County Ground," said Quinn.

"We didn't play as well as we have done in the last three matches. But we didn't get the just rewards from them so you've just got to keep believing in what you are doing.

"Rovers have a lot of good players who cost a lot of money. But I just told my lads to go out and prove we aren't a bad team ourselves and that's what they did. The money is irrelevant. It's about having a bit of passion.

"They had a lot of possession and it seemed like they had an extra man at times. But they didn't really do much to hurt us and it was a great result against a very, very good team.

"I said at the start of the season it's going to be Blackburn, Ipswich Birmingham and maybe Charlton.

"And despite this setback I still think they'll get it right. They've got too many good players not to."
