BLACKBURN Rovers keeper John Filan today insisted he was not to blame for Tuesday night's defeat at Swindon.

Filan believes Swindon's opening goal in their 2-1 victory at the County Ground should never have counted.

The Aussie stopper said he was fouled as he tried to claim Bobby Howe's 30th minute corner before the ball struck defender Simon Grayson and flew into the net.

But referee Paul Taylor didn't spot the offence and the goal set Swindon on their way to a shock victory which brought Rovers six-match unbeaten run shuddering to a halt.

"I thought I was fouled because one of their players whacked me in the stomach as the corner came across," said Filan.

"But obviously the referee didn't think so and he let the goal stand.

"If he didn't see it then there's not much we can do about it.

"But we've had some unusual refereeing decisions already this season and that was another one."

The result came as a hammer blow to a Rovers side who were starting to click into gear after Saturday's impressive 2-0 victory over Walsall.

And Filan believes it's vital they put it behind them as quickly as possible if they want to force their way into the promotion frame.

"It's important we bounce back quickly because we need to start winning games again," said Filan.

"We didn't expect a result like that the other night so we have to get back on track against QPR.

"But that's not going to be easy because they are a well organised side and they'll be looking to cause another upset themselves."

Rovers are having to adapt quickly to life in the First Division.

Teams are tending to get men behind the ball in a bid to frustrate Brian Kidd's expensively assembled side.

And Filan believes patience is the key to getting the right results.

"It does get frustrating because we are trying to get it down and play but other sides don't seem to be interested in doing the same.

"But that's something we've got to get used to because it's going to happen to us a lot this season.

"We dominated the game on Tuesday night until they scored.

"And then once they got the two goals, they dropped off and defended, got a lot of men behind the ball and made it very difficult for us to break them down.

"But we will get it right.

"We've just got to be patient and wait for the openings.

"And if we can win on Saturday there's no reason why we can't put another good run together."
