JOHN Blunt's excellent comments regarding the EU (LET, September 22) are absolutely correct, but his suggestion regarding the overhaul of this organisation, or, to be correct, the inherent fiddling of many of its members has no chance of success.
Arrogance, avarice and self-gratification will continue to be the norm for the majority of the commission, the majority of MEPs and the majority of the rest of the motley crew who make up the whole rotten edifice.
Barnard Connolly, who was for 15 years a senior EU financial official, blew the whistle on this in an excellent book aptly titled 'The Rotten Heart of Europe.'
He was sacked by hypocrites concerned to shut him up in the same way that the latest Dutch whistle-blower was treated.
The truth eventually came out and the Dutchman was re-instated, but Mr Connolly is now engaged in legal proceedings against his former tormentors and in time the malpractices and misdemeanours that surfaced in his book may reach a wider audience.
