ENGINEERING staff helped the East Lancashire Hospice Appeal with a sponsored long-distance cycle ride and raised more than £1,600.

Twelve men from D&S Engineering Facilities, Accrington, and British Aerospace, Samlesbury, joined forces for the ride from Manchester to Blackpool in July.

They have now collected a total of £1,630.

Cyclist Nick Broderick, of D&S, said: "We decided to give the money to the hospice because one of our employee's wives was treated there. We plan to do it again next year."
