Division One: Queens Park Rangers v Blackburn Rovers - Peter White's preview

GAVIN Peacock broke the club record when he scored in each of Rangers first five matches this season.

And the former Chelsea man appears to pose Rovers the biggest threat when the two clubs go head-to-head at Loftus Road tomorrow.

The 31-year-old midfielder is revelling in his second spell at Loftus Road.

A former England Youth and Schoolboy International, he signed for Rangers in 1984.

But he's best remembered for his time with Newcastle under Kevin Keegan where he enjoyed great success as a striker, netting 47 times in 117 appearances for the Magpies.

He then signed for Chelsea in a £1.25M deal in 1993 but after the recent influx of foreign imports he returned to Rangers in 1996 in a £1m deal.

For the last two seasons, he's played a starring role in the Rangers midfield, finishing joint-top scorer with eight goals last term to keep them in Division One. And judging by Carling Opta's stats, he's lost not of his appetite for goals during this campaign.

It's interesting to compare him with Rovers own new midfield hot-shot, Per Frandsen.

Both men enjoy the freedom to roam forward and Frandsen edges it in terms of shots, pulling the trigger 26 times in 810 minutes, compared to Peacock's 14 from 630 minutes.

But the Rangers man has more goals to his name, with three in the league so far, compared to Frandsen's two.

The Dane's all round game is more impressive, though.

Frandsen has made twice as many passes - 385 to Peacock's 161 - with a success rate of 78 per cent.

And he also has the edge when it comes to dribbling and crosses.

But it's on the defensive side where Frandsen wins hands down.

The former Bolton man has made 40 tackles as opposed to Peacock's five.

And when it comes to helping his defence out of a corner, he's also made nearly twice as many clearances.
