A FULWOOD family has donated £3,000 to Royal Preston Hospital to thank staff for caring for their father.
Umarji Patel was the president of the Masjid-E-Salaam mosque until the accident last year and is a highly respected member of the community.
He was hit by a bus in Piccadilly, London, and is currently receiving rehabilitation treatment at the Young Disabled Unit.
Eldest son Arif handed over a cheque for £3,000 as a thank-you to staff at the hospital and paid them a glowing tribute. He said: "The money is to show our thanks and appreciation for their hard work and all of the care shown towards my father by staff at Royal Preston Hospital and the Young Disabled Unit.
"They needed to build a shelter for their bus and we felt it was the least we could do to help them.
"The staff and facilities at RPH are better than anything you can get in a private hospital."
