POLICE and councillors in Golborne are meeting this week to thrash out an action plan to halt a growing problem with unruly youths in the town centre.
It comes after a weekend which has seen shop windows smashed, a fire started and local people being intimidated.
"The youngsters doing this, a group of about 40, have now switched from youthful exuberance to criminal activity and we are going to stop it," said Ch Insp Alex Wooley.
He asked parents to check where their children were at nights.
"Because you could find them, getting into trouble with the police," added Mr Wooley.
Police and community leaders are to work on an action plan for the town centre.
