LOCAL history enthusiasts who missed out on obtaining a copy of the classic railway bible "A Lancashire Triangle" (Part One) have been given another chance.
Author Dennis Sweeney has just taken delivery of a limited run of reprints which contain a mine of information about the maze of railways which once riddled the Leigh, Tyldesley and Atherton area.
Dennis's enthusiasm for the iron roads bubbles through this A4 hardback which details the history of the London and North Western Railways and the coalfield branch lines.
Informative text, detailed captions and 237 marvellous photographs make this a must for the bookshelf.
Copies, price £25, are available from The Journal editorial department, 44/46 Railway Road, Leigh.
On Wednesday, October 6 at 7.45pm Dennis Sweeney will present a film show featuring bygone local rail scenes at Bond Street Catholic Club in Leigh.
