IT seems there are suggestions, if not plans, for motorway service stations to cut the price of food served in their restaurants.

Many motorists are not prepared to pay high prices for food so they just pull in, park, eat their food and drink and make use of the toilets. This obviously does not sit well with the service stations. By charging dear prices they have shot themselves in the foot.

Now another idea. Charge less for food but levy a parking fee and/or pay for using the toilets.

They dominate the arterial networks and drivers have little choice but to use the service stations.

Let us have what they were intended to provide - decent service to the public at a decent price.
