A DISABLED Preston man has raised more than £3,000 for a transport charity.
Ray Kirkham of Newlyn Place, Ingol, sold the majority of draw tickets for Preston Community Transport's raffle.
The fund-raising drive raised £3,136 to go towards equipping the new Mobility Centre, due to open soon in Chapel Yard, Preston.
Preston Community Transport, which operated the Dial-A-Bus and Shopmobility schemes, has received more than £16,000 over the past few years thanks to Ray's fund-raising efforts. Ray, who uses a powered scooter to get about, said: "I am pleased to help - I use the service myself so it makes sense to help keep it going in this way.
"I also did the raffle in memory of Joe Mallon, the treasurer of the organisation who died last year."
John Atkins, manager of the group, said: "Ray's efforts over the past few months have been inspirational.
"We are extremely pleased that the raffle has turned out so well.
"We would also like to extend our thanks to all the people who supported us by buying a ticket for the draw, especially those who use our service and those who park on the Orange Badge Car Park in Chapel Yard."
The new Mobility Centre will benefit from the raffle with the purchase of two electrical wheelchairs which will be on offer for hire at a nominal charge for disabled and elderly people to get around Preston.
