THE annual Blackpool Bowmen v Rochdale match resulted in a very good entry, some good shooting and an enjoyable contest, despite the wet and windy weather.

Rochdale won the two competitions (recurve bow and compound bow), in what was Blackpool's last outdoor match of the millennium.

The recurve match was extremely close, with Rochdale eventually winning 2611-2606.

The Blackpool four of Len Kitching, Julie Yates, Chris Horse and David Carpenter will have regretted the odd poor arrow since they only lost by the extremely small margin of 5 points.

In the compound competition, the Blackpool trio of Eddie Bewes, Colin Kirk and Linda Cullen could not compete with Rochdale.

The visitors were led superbly by disabled archer Terry Peake with an excellent score of 752.

The final score was Rochdale 2,140, Blackpool 1,852.
