A YOUNG sportsman from Lytham has become the winner of a trophy first awarded over 75 years ago.
Nicholas Hamilton was awarded the Schofield Memorial Cup at King Edward VII School.
It was first awarded to D H Schofield in 1923 for outstanding athletic achievements and 12-year-old Kevin is the latest recipient for his own sporting feats.
Nicholas, of Derby Road, Ansdell, was the school's top cross country runner last season and performed with distinction in long distance events in the summer.
Peter Schofield, who also attended King Edward's, travelled from North Wales to see the trophy - in memory of his father- handed over.
