RUNNER Patrick Ruane is preparing for the biggest race of his life.
He will run the New York Marathon on November 7, raising much-needed funds for Get Kids Going, a charity providing sports and mobilising equipment for young and disabled children.
Patrick, 45, of Beech Road, Golborne, has been running for 15 years and has already run three marathons, two in Manchester and one in Blackpool, when he just failed to beat four hours.
In the run-up to New York, Patrick will this month run the Robin Hood Marathon in Nottingham, then the Great North Run in October.
"I hope to raise around £1,000," he said.

CHILDLINE NorthWest are looking for runners to back them in the National Trust Snowdonia Marathon on October 31. Call 0161-834-9945 for details.
