FUN and games was the order of the day on Monday, September 20, when the North Cleveleys No 44 bus service was changed to the No 33.
People waiting at the stop on one side of the road watched the 33 bus flying past on the other side.
While others getting on for a ride to Blackpool found they were going to Cleveleys Park - and vice versa.
Bus drivers, unaccustomed to the new routes, took the wrong turnings. Arthritic old ladies, used to stepping onto Easy Access buses, had to struggle up the high steps of the smaller Handy buses.
A checker who was stationed at Victoria Road tried to placate frustrated passengers, who did not know if they were coming or going.
Perhaps the only thing missing was a Dads Army Corporal Jones shouting "Don't panic!" I presume that in good time we will eventually become familiar with our new bus service, but can I remind Blackpool Transport of that good old USA maxim that says: "If it aint busted, don't fix it."
Jack Robinson,
Cleveleys.
