PRESTON'S recent good run could be extended this weekend as the club play their first home league game for a fortnight.
After a convincing victory away to Gillingham, followed by a satisfactory point at Brentford, Preston will be in good cheer when they take on lowly Cambridge United on Saturday.
Cambridge are currently languishing fourth from bottom - so at least they are still above Blackpool - but manager David Moyes will be make sure his players aren't lulled into a false sense of security.
Preston's aim remains to top the table come May and that means keeping the defence tight and making the most of chances up front.
And all eyes will be on the PNE teamsheet to see who gets to play there. Bjarki Gunnlaugsson, new in this week from Iceland, will be competing with on-form Jon Macken and loan man Alex Mathie for one of the two striking berths.
Kurt Nogan and Steve Basham could also be in contention after recovering from injury. Both are training again, as is Michael Appleton.
Dominic Ludden could also be back in action this weekend, if he has a pain-killing injection to partially cure his mysterious stomach injury which has kept him out of the first team for several weeks.
Midfielder Farid Diaf is back in training after arriving in the UK, as reported first in the Citizen last week. But young midfielder Brian Murphy is still struggling with his knee.
