ST HELENS Council has taken delivery of six specially-adapted buses to provide an improved service for thousands of day care and luncheon club users.
The buses, which cost a total of £336,000 and include new wheelchair safety equipment, can be tailored to meet the needs of each journey.
They provide a lifeline of transport for day care users to Windle Pilkington House and the Lord Street centre, luncheon club customers and to voluntary groups. They will also be used for trips out. Currently there are around 1,300 day care uses a week across the borough plus many more who use the luncheon centres plus voluntary groups who will use the transport during the evening.
