BUILDING on success - that's the aim of Bury's education chiefs.
After being recognised as having the best education system in Britain by Ofsted inspectors in January, Bury Council is determined not to rest on its laurels.
It is now following up its post inspection action plan with the intention of topping its own success.
Bury's school standards spokesman, Coun Andrea Hughes, said: "I am confident we are on course to deliver and I want the next Ofsted report to be as good, if not better than, this year's."
A total of £370,000 will be made available by the council to support the recommendations in the action plan.
It has already been agreed to devolve £100,000 of that to schools for improvements in information and communication technology.
Other improvements being implemented include deciding on literacy targets for Key Stage 2 pupils, working to make more efficient use of resources for provision for pupils with emotional and behavioural difficulties and raising standards and provision in art and design.
The post inspection action plan is monitored by Bury's recently-created Ofsted Action Plan Steering Group consisting of councillors from all parties.
