LEIGH BC have broken a 36-year duck. They have won the Lancashire County Bowling Association's Supplementary Cup - the first Leigh team to pick up the prestigious trophy, the first Leigh team to even reach the final in 36 years of keen competition.
"We are delighted and proud of our achievement," said Leigh Bowling Club skipper Colin Grimshaw.
Final opponents Rose & Crowns (Ramsbottom) were like Lambs to the slaughter as they crashed 188-164.
Four of their players, father-and-sons C Lamb, A Lamb, I Lamb, J Lamb, were all vanquished.
There was some tough competition throughout, Leigh winning eight of the 10 games, Ramsbottom's biggest win coming against Colin's son - playing in his first final of any sort.
