TEENAGER Kara Hayes will fly the national flag tomorrow when she leads out the England team for their Rugby World Cup clash against Italy.
Kara, 14, of Kestrel Drive, Darwen, and six others will carry the St George flag and lead out the players for their opening pool match at Twickenham. Her moment of glory was the prize in a competition organised by Sainsbury's and Coca-Cola. She has already been to Twickenham to meet England star Matt Dawson, left, as part of her prize.
She said: "I couldn't believe it when I found out that I'd won the competition. It was very exciting meeting Matt and I can hardly wait for the match."
Kara, a pupil at St Wilfrid's CE High School, Blackburn, will be part of an international contingent of more than 250 young competition winners.
Matt Dawson said: "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I'm sure Kara will make a great flagbearer".
Lucky Kara will also receive Coca-Cola branded kit and merchandise as well as a match ticket for her mum Karen, who is also a keen rugby fan.
Mrs Hayes said: " I am absolutely thrilled for Kara. I'm delighted that she has the chance to participate in such an exciting event."
