PENDLE Councillor Azhar Ali hs urged the government to do more to solve the Kashmir problem.
He spoke out at the Labour conference in Bournemouth.
Coun Ali said Kashmir was a major problem and there were 50,000 troops in the province the size of Wales on the border of India and Pakistan.
He urged Foreign Secretary Robin Cook to do all he could to resolve the dispute over the territory which earlier this year brought India and Pakistan the brink of war.
