A TEENAGE driver suffered a broken neck and spinal injuries after a head-on collision left nine people needing hospital treatment.
Police said Rory James Mulderig, 19, of Douglas Road, Bacup, lost control of his Ford Escort cabriolet on a slight bend on Burnley Road, Dunnockshaw, collided with a Vauxhall Astra estate and a hit a wall.
He was "stable" in Royal Preston Hospital.
His passengers, who were slightly injured, were John Brighty, of Rockcliffe Road, Bacup, Christopher Kaye, 17, of Tong Lane, Bacup, Adrian Woodruff, 18, of Rockcliffe Road, Bacup, and William Mulderig, 17, of Douglas Road, Bacup, was treated for slight whiplash.
Astra driver Nicola Royle, 24, of Devon Grove, Burnley, suffered whiplash, passenger June Royle, 57, of Chatburn Avenue, Burnley, suffered a broken sternum and femur, husband Keith Royle, 58, suffered slight whiplash and Matthew Tustin, 19, of Devon Grove, Burnley, was bruised.
