TOP-of-the-league Miners were thrashed by Boys Club 7-3 in the first round of the Towneley Cup with Craig Robinson showing his usual flair for the victors with a fine hat-trick.
He received good support from Ryan Campione who scored twice, Dean Stowe pulled two back for Miners, but Boys Club were well on top and won in a canter.
In the other matches Paradise Island cruised to a 7-1 win over Commercial. Star of the side was Jimmy Nicholson with two cracking goals, Commercial found themelves outplayed. Boys Club Youth won a close match with Artline 4-2, Mark Biscomb leading the way with two goals, Swift and Heaton made it four but Alan Horrocks was fighting a lone battle with his two goals for Artline.
Colne Clarets played Second Division opponents Cloverbrook and in a close match Asif Majed and Neil Riley scored for Colne. Nixon and Green levelled the scores, but Hesketh put Colne in the next round in a game they deserved to win. In a First v Third Division game Havelock were made to fight all the way by Glory Hotel from the Rossendale Valley. The difference between the teams was Glen Sneddon who scored a fine hat trick in their 4-2 win. Cup holders CWR Scaffold had a walkover when their opponents Craven Heifer turned up without a stirp. Jesters had a comfortable win over Veka thanks to Anthony Leach whose four goals made all the dfference. Redrose won a hard match over Woodman 2-1, TSB were on top form scoring at will over Coal Clough, the two Hare brother both scored two goals each and Williams and Swallow weighed in with a further two goals in their 9-3 victory.
The remaining games were washed out.
There are no matches next week as Burnley are playing on Sunday.
