RESIDENTS who have been boiling water in the wake of problems at a North West Water reservoir were today told it is now safe to use straight from the tap.
A spokesman for North West Water said discoloration problems at Ogden Reservoir were still being treated but that supply to Newchurch-in-Pendle was now coming from another source.
She went on: "We did advise customers in the area to boil water because of a problem at Ogden Reservoir but we have now lifted that notice and they don't have to boil it anymore.
"Water in Ogden Reservoir is still murky and discoloured and treatment works continue there, but we have now diverted supply from another source which will provide clean, treated water for people living there."
The company is planning to push leaflets through the doors of homes in the area advising customers of the news.
